Sharing positive actions taken and witnessed toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while discovering the connections with the Earth Charter through picture and video sharing —this is the idea behind Mapting, our new mobile app developed in collaboration with Soka Gakkai International.
A contraction of “Mapping” and “Acting”, Mapting is a platform where you can share and browse positive actions. It brings a different approach to Sustainable Development – one that focuses on solutions rather than problems – and invites you to share all the things you are seeing, doing and creating every day to make the 17 SDGs a reality by the target of 2030.
See here Mapting brochure.
With Mapting you can:
- Snap & map every actions and solutions that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Browse the world map or the photo-feed to see all solutions and positives actions.
- Interact with other users and create a community around achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Discover the targets we need to reach by 2030 and the fundamental values that we need to get there.
Beyond photo and video sharing, Mapting is a learning tool that brings a comprehensive and inclusive approach to Sustainable Development. It combines two complementary frameworks, the SDGs and the Earth Charter, to help you build connections between the targets, or where we need to go (SDGs), and the fundamental shared values that we need to get there (the Earth Charter). In addition, it recognizes that ecological protection, the eradication of poverty, equitable economic development, respect for human rights, democracy and peace are interdependent.
Launched during an event titled “Youth boosting the promotion and implementation of the SDGs” held at the United Nations headquarters in New York on the 10th of November 2016, Mapting received enthusiastic feedback from participants and strong support from other NGOs. But this is just the beginning of Mapting’s story, and you can help us write its next chapters.
