GRI and Earth Charter Event in Amsterdam, May 2008

Earth Charter endorsers or users who are in the Amsterdam region in early May should consider putting the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) ‘Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparency’ on their agenda. Apart from the general relevance of the conference, the Earth Charter will be the focus of a special high level event to be held on Thursday 8 May at 12.45pm. See the programme here

The purpose of the event, to be chaired by Ruud Lubbers, Earth Charter co-founder/Commissioner, will be to discuss how the Earth Charter and the GRI can work together to better advance their shared missions, and to discuss the Earth Charter guidance paper describing the complementary – and different – aspects of the Earth Charter, the GRI and the UN Global Compact.

Among other things, the paper encourages all Earth Charter users to use the GRI guidelines to assess and report their use of the Charter. Earth Charter endorsers and users are encouraged to attend the GRI conference or follow its proceedings. A report on the Earth Charter session will be made available shortly after the conference. Please find the Earth Charter Guidance paper here.

If you are able to attend the event, please register and take part in this interesting dicussion! Register here.
