As the world becomes increasingly interdependent and fragile, the future at once holds great peril and great promise. To move forward we must recognize that in the midst of a magnificent diversity of cultures and life forms we are one human family and one Earth community with a common destiny.
Within the frame of the “Day of Climatic Solutions” celebration organized by Mente Verde A.C.(Green Mind) and Red Ambiental Geo Juvenil (Geo Juvenile Environmental Network), INJUCAM (The Youth Institute of the State of Campeche), carried out the exhibition called “Llanto Verde” from the artist Lorena Priego Fonseca, who was on site explaining the meaning of each of her art work. This activity took place on October 1st at 11am at the Ministry of Culture.
The Director General of INJUCAM, Julio César Luna Carballo, said that the purpose of this exhibition was to promote actions such as adaptation measures and awareness toward the climate change that humanity is facing.
“The Earth Charter is a synthesis of values, principles and aspirations widely shared by an increasing number of men and women in all regions of the world, this is the reason of the interest of INJUCAM in promoting this kind of actions among the youth of Campeche”, said Luna Carballo.
The paintings of Priego are based fundamentally in respect for the Earth and life in all its diversity; care for the community of life with understanding and love; the construction of democratic societies that are just, participative, sustainable and peaceful; as well as ensuring that the fruit and beauty of the Earth are preserved for present and future generations.
Lorena Priego Fonseca studied Architecture at the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (Autonomous University of Puebla). Participated in several art courses with Gabriel Macotela, Oscar Gutman, Salvador Castro and Jorge Yaspick, among others. She has exhibited her work individually and collectively in different cultural institutions in Tabasco, Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Campeche and Mexico City.
