The Weeramantry International Centre for Peace Education and Research has embraced the Earth Charter and is using it as part of its activities. During the Training for Trusteeship 2010 workshop they organized this year, which is a multi-disciplinary forum and brings together young leaders from various backgrounds, the Earth Charter was presented and discussed, as a result the Earth Charter was endorsed by ninety-six people from Sri Lanka.
Amongst those who endorsed include Judge C.G. Weeramantry, Founder, WICPER and Former Vice-President, International Court Justice, The Hague, Mr. G.E. Chitty, Former UN Assistant Secretary General, First Registrar of the UN Tribunal for the Law of Sea, Hamburg and Member, Board of Trustees, WICPER, Professor Lakshman Guruswamy, Director & Nicholas Doman Professor of Law, University of Colorado Law School, USA and Member, Board of Advisors WICPER, Mr. R.P. Perera, Secretary General, UNESCO Sri Lanka, Dr. Ranjith Mahindapala, Country Representative IUCN Sri Lanka and Neshan Gunasekera, Attorney at Law, Director Training for Trusteeship Workshops, South Asia Office of the International Association of Lawyers Against Nuclear Arms (IALANA).
