Cleveland, Ohio Montessori Highschool class experiences the Earth Charter

A group of highschool students from a Montessori School in Ohio came down to Costa Rica and visited the University for Peace. Former UPEACE student Elizabeth Henke led the trip and asked Earth Charter International to do a short workshop for the class.

During the workshop, facilitated by ECI’s Douglas F. Williamson, the students played a couple of games to highlight the interconnectedness of all issues, people, animals, and planet. After reviewing the basic pillars of the Earth Charter, the group actively discussed values and principles and how they relate to environmental and social issues that they see in their lives and community. The discussion was lively and the group showed its maturity and care for sustainability issues.

Hopefully, members of the group will try and use the Earth Charter at home and at school to inspire sustainability projects in the future.
