As part of the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development with the Earth Charter, ECI organized a primary and secondary in-service teachers’ workshop called “Teaching Sustainability with the Earth Charter” on June 6th and 7th, 2013.
The UNESCO Costa Rica Commission made the call for participation to this workshop, which the Earth Charter Center for ESD at UPEACE hosted. Eighteen teachers from schools that are part of the Costa Rican network of Schools associated with UNESCO participated in this workshop.
The aim of the workshop was to put in practice the pedagogical principles of education for sustainable development, which promotes learners’ active participation, critical analysis, learning by doing and using our senses to promote learning.
