This Handbook has been designed as a source of information for all those who are interested in learning more about the Earth Charter. Information is provided here about those key individuals and organizations that have and continue to support the Earth Charter, the program of activities that comprise the Earth Charter Initiative, and the organizational structure that has been established. A brief summary of the rich history of the Earth Charter is also detailed, providing the necessary context to understand how the Earth Charter relates to the global sustainability agenda. The full text of the Earth Charter has been included as an appendix.

Este folleto ha sido disenado como una fuente de informacion para todas aquellas personas interesadas en saber mas acerca de la Carta de la Tierra, incluyendo el por que es necesaria y detalles acerca del extraordinario proceso de redaccion por medio del cual fue escrita. Aqui se brinda informacion acerca de esos individuos y organizaciones clave que han apoyado y continuan apoyando la Carta de la Tierra, el programa de actividades que comprende la Iniciativa de la Carta de la Tierra, asi como la estructura organizacional que ha sido establecida. Incluye ademas un resumen corto de la historia de la Carta junto con el contexto necesario para entender de que manera se relaciona esta con la agenda global de sostenibilidad.
