Educating for the 21st Century is a dynamic course designed for educators at all levels, incorporating case-studies and field visits. The course will demonstrate techniques for the integration of peace education into your curriculum and teaching.
The Earth Charter will be presented and discussed as a unique educational framework for helping build a more sustainable, peaceful and just global community.
By: The course is being offered by the United Nations mandated University for Peace’s Centre for Executive Education in San Jose, Costa Rica. Participants will be awarded a certificate upon completion of the course.
Dates: Offered from June 20 – 27, 2010.
Course Format: The course is designed to be practical and hands-on, with space for sharing and reflection. The course will travel to the most scenic cloudforest region of Monteverde for the last 2 days of the course. For a more detailed itinerary, please see this link.

Course Facilitators:
Mohit Mukherjee is the founder and director of the UPEACE Centre for Executive Education and a faculty member at UPEACE. Prior to this position, he led the Education Programme of the Earth Charter Initiative, an international nonprofit organization. He has a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his Master’s from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Jason Laker is currently the Associate Vice-Principal & Dean of Student Affairs at Queen’s University in Ontario, Canada. He is also appointed within the Gender Studies Department and Cultural Studies graduate program. Dr. Laker holds a B.S. from Central Michigan University, an M.A. in Community Counseling from Adams State College (Alamosa, CO), and a Ph.D. with a major in Higher Education Administration and Organization from the University of Arizona.
