The Earth Charter for Mexican youth is an adaptation of the original Earth Charter text. It has four pillars written in language that is more accessible for youth from a Mexican perspective.
This document is the result of an open consultation process with all Mexican youth that were interested in participating.
The drafting process started during the first Conference of Universities with the Earth Charter, organized by the University of Guanajuato in 2010. The process continued the next year through a number of workshops at the second Conference of Universities with the Earth Charter at the University of Coahuila. A virtual consultation followed this conference, which resulted in the final version of this adaption.
The Earth Charter for Mexican youth was formally launched during the Third National Conference of Universities with the Earth Charter, celebrated from October 11th to 13th, 2012 in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
The presentation and reading of the document was done by three youth leaders: Marta Saso (University of Coahuila), Javier Muñoz (University of Aguascalientes) y Michelle Calderón (University of Guanajuato).
