We are pleased to share with you an essay on sustainability leadership and ethics: “Rethinking Leadership – The Role of the Earth Charter in fostering ethical leaders for the future”.
The essay is written by Mr Mikko Erpestad during the past 5 months which he spent at the Earth Charter International’s secretariat in Costa Rica.
The essay explains the differences between the traditional leadership model and sustainability leadership. It goes into fundamental leadership skills, such as systemic thinking, teamwork and need for collaboration and innovation. The essay claims that the sustainable leadership is strongly based on ethics and proposes the Earth Charter as an ethical blueprint for leaders.
This essay is intended for all activists working with leadership, and specifically for those who prepare young people to live sustainably and become responsible local and global citizens in the 21st century.
