The Earth Charter is now available in Vietnamese and it is being used in the activities for the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development in Vietnam. Recently, the Earth Charter in Vietnamese was distributed to over 100 participants of the National Advocacy Workshop on Education for Sustainable Development in Hanoi. The Vietman National Commission for UNESCO organized this event, where participants from different ministries, educational institutes and offices met to present past and ongoing activities and share their views on education for sustainable development.
After the workshop, and to support a wider use of the Earth Charter in Vietnam, UNESCO Hanoi Office distributed the Earth Charter to Departments of Education and Training and People’s Committees in 64 provinces and provided copies to 21 UNESCO Associated Schools in Vietnam. UNESCO Hanoi Office is now encouraging their Vietnamese partners to use the Earth Charter in educational activities promoting a more sustainable future.
