  • 7 weeks, June 9th – July 14th, 2011
  • Meetings take place online, once a week, 3pm GMT,
    2 hours at the time
  • 2 hours of individual and/or group homework between sessions

Overall Goal of the online course
Young people in Euro-Arab region promote and contribute the transition to sustainable ways of living and a global society founded on a shared ethical framework that includes respect and care for the community of life, ecological integrity, universal human rights, respect for diversity, economic justice, democracy, and a culture of peace.

  • European and Arab youth work together online to learn about sustainable ways of living, sustainable development and global, shared ethics
  • Create concrete action projects in sustainability taking place in participants home communities
  • Vivid youth network where activists inspire each other to keep working for more just, sustainable and peaceful future

The course drives for positive change in participants’ everyday lives and creates a sense of global responsibility. After the course, the participants will be aware of the principles of sustainability. They will understand how these principles can be used as tools on an individual and organizational level.
As a result of the course, the participants will come to realize their role as leaders in a transition to a more sustainable future and are expected to organize a small project in their community.

The aim is that this youth collaboration will eventually turn into an organic network of youth sustainability leaders, and further inspire its activists to take action to promote sustainable ways of living in their communities.

Application deadline is on June 1st and selected participants will be informed on June 2nd.
The selected participants are expected to confirm their participation by June 5th.

… in youth leadership in a community level; collaborating with youth from Euro-Arab region; interested in implementing a small action project; building a just, sustainable and peaceful future! 

This course is implemented as a part of Earth Charter International Youth Facilitator’s, Jaana Laitinen, participation in ‘Euro–Arab training course for cooperation youth projects through non formal learning‘, which is a long-term training course of the Directorate of Youth and Sport of the Council of Europe and the League of Arab States aiming to develop the capacity of youth organisations active in Euro-Arab cooperation, in the areas of non-formal learning, training and intercultural dialogue.
