Professional Development Programme on Education for Sustainable Development

Diplomado ES enero 2020An emerging vision of education, associated with the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG 4, is seeking the transformation of education systems, in order to promote the skills, values and knowledge that help us face our current challenges as a society, in a context of globalization and environmental crisis.

The 2019 UNESCO General Conference reaffirmed, through Resolution 40C / 80, the importance of the Earth Charter as an ethical framework for sustainable development and encouraged Member States to use this Charter in the processes of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), in particular in the implementation of the new ESD for 2030 framework.

In this sense, the Earth Charter is an ideal educational instrument for educators who want to put the emerging trends of education for sustainability into practice and seek a transformative learning of society.

How can the Earth Charter be used in educational processes? How can transformative learning towards sustainability be promoted? What pedagogical strategies can be used?

These and other questions have guided the Earth Charter Education Center to create and offer each year (since 2016) the Online Certificate on Education for Sustainable Development International Professional Development Programme, which is offered in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and where hundreds of educators from all regions of the world have been able to train and at the same time have a transformative experience towards becoming agents of change to promote a world view associated with sustainability.

This programme is offered virtually, has a duration of 6 months, has four courses and six real-time seminars.

We invite you to take advantage of this Online Certificate, meet educators from different countries and get involved in the International Network of Earth Charter Educators.

Dates for upcoming programmes in Spanish and Portuguese: May 26 to November 17, 2020
