Meeckel Beecher, a 23-year-old Jamaican, participated in Earth Charter online course in March 2011. This course was organized in partnership with TakingITGlobal’s program called Tread Lightly. Transition to a Sustainable Lifestyle with the Earth Charter! brought together a diverse group of youth leaders from all over the world to study together for one month.
Meeckel decided to spread the word on the information he learned during the course and wrote an article to YourCommonwealth.org, which is a part of Commonwealth Youth Program. This article is advertised on the main page website!
In his article Meeckel reminds us how we as young people can take responsibility for eliminating over-consumption. He refers to information what he learned during the course and emphasizes the need of all individuals and communities recognize their responsibilities to solve this problem. He also lists concrete steps we all can take in our lives to enhance sustainability.
