Presenting “Legacy Lives Here”, a short film about the new Hazel Henderson Center in St. Augustine, Florida

We are pleased to share Legacy Lives Here, a short film highlighting the newly established Hazel Henderson Center in St. Augustine, Florida. The film offers an overview of the vision to transform Hazel Henderson’s former home into a center dedicated to continuing her life’s work.

Hazel Henderson—futurist, author, sustainability pioneer, and a close friend of the Earth Charter—donated her home to ensure that the work she and her husband, Alan Kay, began in 1990 would continue. The Hazel Henderson Center was created as a space for creative minds to gather, share groundbreaking ideas, and help drive meaningful change.

The Center supports Hazel Henderson’s legacy through education and reflection, housing more than 6,000 books from her personal collection. It is a place to renew, explore, and advance the many ideas she championed throughout her life.

Beth Binns, Co-Trustee of the Hazel Henderson Trust, describes the Center as a welcoming space for activists, scholars, and leaders focused on the green economy and innovative approaches to entrepreneurship.

Paula Seymour, Associate Professor of Social Entrepreneurship at Flagler College, has already begun bringing students to the Center to engage with its resources and mission.

Michael J. Bracken, Chair of the Earth Charter International Board, reflects on Hazel Henderson’s enduring message: “The key thing we can learn from Hazel is that the traditional capitalist outlook on life and profit maximization is fundamentally off-center. We need to look at the overall community of life, ethical values, and the need to reengineer our economic system—for today’s and future generations.”

Hazel was among the many great minds and souls who not only influenced the drafting of the Earth Charter, but also continue to support and follow our work over the years.

The film, developed by Pascal Head with the Executive Producer Michael J. Bracken, was presented at St Augustin film festival in early January this year.
