August marks an exciting new chapter for the Earth Charter International (ECI) team as they bid farewell to Youth Coordinator Erika Reinkendorf and welcome a familiar face into the role. After contributing her talent, dedication, and creativity to the youth network, Erika will be returning to her home country of Peru. The ECI team is deeply grateful for her many contributions and wishes her all the best in her next chapter.
Stepping into the position of Youth Coordinator and Communications Manager is María Sosa-Segnini, who many in the Earth Charter community already know from her role as Communications and Project Officer over the past three years. During this time, María has learned extensively from the network and the ECI team, met inspiring people from all over the world, and formed meaningful friendships.
Born and raised in Costa Rica, María comes from a diverse family of Lebanese, Italian, and Costa Rican descent. She is a Political Scientist from the University of Costa Rica with a postgraduate degree in Communications from FLACSO Argentina. In 2024, she was part of a team awarded the National Journalism Prize for the documentary series Platos Rotos on political corruption in Costa Rica. Passionate about nature, hiking, music, and learning from diverse cultures, she brings both professional expertise and a deep personal commitment to the values of the Earth Charter.

María has found hope in this movement and in each person who keeps it alive and moving forward. In her new role, she looks forward to combining her communications background with a strong dedication to youth engagement.
She can be reached at [email protected] and is eager to connect with members of the network.
