We at Earth Charter International have so many exciting projects going on, plans and ideas in the process of making the world a more peaceful and sustainable. We are entering a new phase. The new Earth Charter Education Center is about to open at the University for Peace campus in Costa Rica and it has been selected for a four year project: the UNESCO Chair on Education for Sustainable Development and the Earth Charter. The Earth Charter International Secretariat work will be focused on three critical areas that you can support:
(1) Education for more sustainable ways of living;
(2) Networking Earth Charter supporters and likeminded sustainability advocates and activists; and
(3) Dialogue to promote understanding of the ethical dimensions of sustainability and to influence policy and governance to better reflect ethical considerations
We now need your help in raising the necessary funds and resources needed to cover our operating costs for 2012-2013 and to support some fantastic projects. Here are some specific ECI projects and requirements that need your support. Any contribution you can make towards these targets will be a great help.
Education
1. New Earth Charter Center for Education for Sustainable Development. This involves training, teaching and research on Education for sustainability, ethics and the Earth Charter
2. New equipment and furniture. The Center counts with a new building and is in the process of seeking funds to its equipment.
3. Development and facilitation of online youth empowerment courses.
4. Best practices and experiences of the Earth Charter in education through video production. Much of our works is and will continue to be in facilitating the exchange of experiences and knowledge.
Networking
5. Communication services
Dialogue
6. International dialogue on the Earth Charter, Sustainability, and Ethics during Rio+20
