Sue Blythe has been an Earth Charter Champion for many years. She is actively involved in WE – A global campaign of We, The World to unite and amplify the efforts of people, organizations and movements working for the common good.
From 11 to 21 September 2019 the campaign is all about 11 Days of Global Unity – 11 Ways to Transform Your World, culminating on the INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE 21st September. It is celebrating its 15-year anniversary. Since its start in 2004, 11 Days has become an inspiring international movement which annually includes as many as 700 associated events in over 60 countries.
At this perilous moment in our world, when new social, political and environmental challenges confront our society seemingly every day, 11 Days of Global Unity – 11 Ways to Transform Your World provides a comprehensive worldwide platform connecting an international array of hundreds of thousands of socially concerned people, organizations and coalitions with solutions for peace, justice, sustainability and transformation. This resonates with the Earth Charter as ‘The Way Forward’ states “… we must find ways to harmonize diversity with unity, the exercise of freedom with the common good, short-term objectives with long term-goals. Every individual, family, organization, and community has a vital role to play …. Let ours be a time remembered for the awakening of a new reverence for life, the firm resolve to achieve sustainability, the quickening of the struggle of justice and peace, and the joyful celebration of life.”
This campaign provides a powerful platform to address local and global social, political, economic and environmental challenges to humanity and all life on Earth.
