Welcoming Nnaemeka Phil Eke-Okocha to the Earth Charter International Council!

Earth Charter International proudly welcomes Nnaemeka Phil Eke-Okocha to the Earth Charter Council, recognizing his remarkable contributions as a scholar, peacebuilder, and advocate for youth leadership in sustainability and global justice.

Phil currently serves as Executive Director of Adesso Development Initiative, Project Lead of the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Youth, and is pursuing his PhD at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He is also Co-Founder of Nova Praxis, an initiative dedicated to strengthening youth leadership in sustainability, peacebuilding, education, and climate justice.

Through Adesso and his leadership roles at SDSN Youth, Phil has driven youth-centered projects on climate action, civic engagement, urban sustainability, and peacebuilding. His collaborative work with organizations across the United Nations system, civil society, and academia highlights his commitment to advancing inclusive, locally grounded, and ecologically responsible models of development.

At the heart of his efforts lies a dedication to ethical leadership. Drawing inspiration from the Earth Charter’s values of ecological integrity, social justice, and nonviolence, Phil integrates these principles into his teaching, organizing, and research. His vision is to cultivate a generation of changemakers who recognize our interdependence and embrace shared responsibility in building a just, peaceful, and sustainable future.
