CBHE European Commission project kick off – ACT4SDGs

The University for Peace through the Earth Charter Center for Education for Sustainable Development is participating in a project called ‘Professionalization of Academic Teaching to Infuse SDGs in Latin American Universities’, with the acronym ACT4SDGS, which is funded through the ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE Strand 2, it started in January 2024 and will be active for 36 months (three years). This project seeks to incorporate the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into teaching, learning processes and curricula, thus improving the quality of higher education.

This project involves 3 European universities and 10 Latin American universities, which will create a Euro-Latin American Network of Universities to work on the SDGs through an ethical and integral perspective, where the Earth Charter will be used as an ethical framework.

The overall objective of the project is to promote quality of education in all participating universities (SDG 4), through the continuous professionalization of the academic teaching community in these universities, and to develop flexible, adaptable and scalable innovations in teaching practice, learning processes and curriculum revision to infuse sustainability using the SDGs and the Earth Charter. Furthermore, it seeks to promote a whole institution approach for sustainability in these institutions, involving university authorities and different decision-making bodies.
