In January, ECI inaugurated its new Earth Charter Center for Education for Sustainable Development and in the past months has finalized the membership of the reformed Council. The new Council offers a wealth of experience, a diversity of geography, and the usual mix of age and gender.

Among the new members are renowned physicist, systems thinker, and educator Fritjof Capra, environmental activist and Earth Charter Commissioner Severn Cullis-Suzuki, Youth Representative and social innovator Ama van Dantzig, gender and labor rights specialist Mitsuko Horiuchi, energy expert Hisham Khatib, health specialist and environmental activist Wanjira Mathai, environmental economist Hua Wang, and financial industry executive and sustainability management expert Richard Zimmerman.

Earth Charter International is honored to have these new members join the movement to foster a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world and is certain that these new members’ expertise and passion for advancing the Earth Charter mission will be successful and rewarding.
