This year we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the 20th anniversary of the launch of the Earth Charter. Considering these important celebrations, Earth Day Network (EDN) and Earth Charter International (ECI) decided that the time was ripe for these two organizations to join forces and promote each other’s initiatives and resources.
In this sense, in April 2020 EDN and ECI signed a Memorandum of Understanding, in which main purpose is to collaborate in promoting and celebrating Earth Day and Earth Charter launch especially this year; however, it is open for subsequent years.
Another activity that these organizations will aim to collaborate on is sharing resources with their networks, for example, ECI will share information about EDN’s Teach-Ins, Faith programme resources, Environmental Education campaigns, and virtual Earth Day celebration resources. EDN will include the Earth Charter in their materials, and will promote it, especially in June for Earth Charter’s anniversary.
