Towards the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012, ECI staff member Douglas F. Williamson video-documented a compelling Earth Charter story in Costa Rica. Over the course of the previous years, two teachers had developed an Earth Charter education program in Costa Rica’s largest and most violent prison. The program integrated the Earth Charter in many different classes from biology to literacy classes and not only had a positive environmental impact at the prison, but also showed that the Earth Charter can effectively be used as a social rehabilitation tool.
This documentary premiered at the Criterio Ambiental Environmental Film Festival in San José, Costa Rica, in June 2013 and is now available for the public on Youtube.
