On 8 October, we will celebrate the official launch of the book Education for Sustainable Futures: Global Citizenship and the Earth Charter, edited by Douglas Bourn, Namrata Sharma, and Mirian Vilela, and published by Emerald Publishing.
Hosted by the Development Education Research Center (DERC) and the Academic Network for Global Education & Learning (ANGEL), in collaboration with Earth Charter International, this event will bring together editors and authors to explore the book’s key themes and contributions to education for sustainability.
The book examines how the Earth Charter can serve as a guiding framework to advance global citizenship and education for sustainable development, featuring practices and perspectives from around the world, including Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia.
The launch will be chaired by Professor Douglas Bourn (UCL) and will include contributions from co-editors Mirian Vilela (Executive Director, Earth Charter International) and Namrata Sharma (State University of New York), as well as chapter authors Alicia Jiménez, Kartikeya Sarabhai, Mukirae Njihia, and Tamy Kobashikawa.
In addition to presenting insights from the book, the event will feature a space for audience questions and discussion.
