Sustainable Consumption – a youth perspective

On July 2nd, The ECI and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung co-organized a roundtable discussion with Costa Rican youth to reflect on the impacts that consumption patterns have on the planet and on human health.

Principle 7 of the Earth Charter states, “Adopt patterns of production, consumption, and reproduction that safeguard Earth’s regenerative capacities, human rights, and community well-being.

The main messages are relatively well-known, but are societies putting them in to practice? The students from different backgrounds acknowledged that there is still much to do to achieve these aspects of sustainability, and they suggested solutions on four different scales: individual/civil society; business/industrial sector; national; and global.

ECI wants to continue this conversation with all of you, so, please offer your opinion on this form and share your perspective on this important topic. Don’t miss the opportunity to be heard!

With all the comments and proposals received, ECI will prepare a report that will be shared with the world wide community. This form will be open during August.
