Three Universities in Hidalgo, Mexico formally endorse the Earth Charter

From October 15th to 17th, the Technological University of Tula-Tepeji (UTTT) hosted the 2nd Green Markets Forum, inviting students, community members, politicians, and fellow universities to celebrate a commitment to the Earth Charter vision of sustainability. Some years ago, on behalf of the UTTT, Rector Leodan Portes Vargas had endorsed the Earth Charter, which affirmed the institutional commitment to orient the course content and pedagogy of the technological university toward sustainability. Rector Leodan became the focal point for the Earth Charter in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico, taking on the role of promoting the Earth Charter to other individuals and institutions in the state. Through his efforts, three more universities have now joined the movement.

With Executive Director of Earth Charter International Mirian Vilela as their witness, Rector Elva Isabel Gutierrez Cabrera, Rector Veronica Kugel and Director Gloria Edith Palacios Almón signed a formal endorsement of the Earth Charter on behalf of their respective Universities, the Polytechnic University of Energy, the Intercultural University of the State of Hidalgo, and the Technological Institute of Pachuca. The endorsement signifies these universities´ commitment to the spirit and aims of the Earth Charter and its implementation. Earth Charter International congratulates them on joining the movement and their commitment to building a more just, peaceful, and sustainable world!
