University course at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC features the EC

A new Master’s course titled “Worldviews, Ethics and the Environment” (EECO510) was taught at the Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, Canada by Laura Westra, Ph.D., Ph.D. (Law), Professor Emerita (Philosophy) from the University of Windsor.  The 5th Unit of the Course is dedicated to the Earth Charter.  The course, involved 24 students and started April 18, 2011 and ended on June 23, 2011.  It is entirely an online course and included persons from all over the world.

The course is divided into 5 Units:
Unit 1:  An Introduction to Worldviews, Ethics and the Environment;
Unit 2:  “Values in Nature: Biocentric and Ecocentric Ethics”;
Unit 3: “Religious Traditions, Worldviews and the Environment”;
Unit 4: “Environmental Justice/Injustice”
Unit 5: “the Earth Charter”.

The final paper due is intended to show how the Earth Charter could address the issues that have been discussed, how it could respond to environmental injustice, and how it might be able to help people change the status quo.
