Hasiba Syed

Hasiba Syed is a 24-year-old environmental science graduate from India with a deep passion for sustainability and climate change. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in environmental science, gaining two years of invaluable research experience during her academic journey. Her postgraduate thesis focused on remote sensing and its connection to climate change, enhancing her expertise in GIS-based environmental analysis. She is also preparing for her PhD studies, where she hopes to further explore climate change and contribute to meaningful research in the field.

Recently, Hasiba worked as a Climate Change Intern at an ecological institute in India, where she gained hands-on experience in climate-related studies. She is also an alumna of the Earth Charter International Leadership, Sustainability, and Ethics Course (2024), where she explored the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Inner Development Goals (IDGs), and Earth Charter principles. Through this training, she developed the skills to be an ethical and impactful sustainability leader, creating initiatives that contribute to a more just and sustainable world. As part of her project work, she designed a flyer as a marketing tool and delivered a structured pitch to communicate her ideas effectively.

Hasiba’s passion for sustainability is deeply rooted in her upbringing. Growing up in an environmentally conscious household, she witnessed her father’s commitment to sustainable living—from planting a guava tree that now covers their entire walkway to practicing composting, waste segregation, and supporting local farmers. Their home garden, with lemon and curry trees, along with a terrace and balcony garden, reflects their dedication to an eco-friendly lifestyle.

With a strong foundation in environmental research, leadership training, and sustainable living practices, Hasiba aspires to drive meaningful change in environmental management and climate resilience.
