Kabila Jonathan Obbo, 22, was born in Oyam district and raised in Gulu district from a humble family. I am a student at Gulu University pursuing Bachelor of Science in Food and Agribusiness, and also a Rotaractor from Rotaract Club of Gulu University. I am so passionate about transforming my community especially through youth empowerment in the fields of agriculture, education and leadership. I am also so passionate about achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and therefore I believe that through good leadership and commitment, I will always be a change agent and ambassador for my community in solving major community issues like youth unemployment, poverty, Gender Based Violence, early pregnancies and marriages.
I also serve as Project coordinator for United Nations Association of Uganda Gulu Chapter where I am an advocate for the rights of the marginalized people in Gulu district especially children, women, youth and persons with disabilities. I have engaged in various community programmes such as “Educate a Child” project which aimed at promoting inclusive education for persons with disabilities in Gulu district, Northern Uganda which was faced with war for 20 years. I have also helped in Promotion of safe birth delivery for expectant women at Lira Regional referral Hospital by mobilizing youth and fundraising so as to donate Mama Kits to the expectant mothers.
I believe that all groups of marginalized people can be empowered given the resources by mobilization of resources, ensuring strong youth networks and challenging policy makers on youth issues in the community.
My hobbies include; Debating, reading newspapers, watching news and making friends, rock climbing, travelling and photography.
I look forward to continued engagement in transforming this world.
