Tesfahunegn Minwuyelet Mengistu earned his BSc and MSc degrees in Computer Science and Software Engineering from Bahir Dar University, Ethiopia, in 2017 and 2019, respectively, graduating among the top of his class with great distinction. He joined the Faculty of Computing at Bahir Dar University on July 8, 2017, as a Lecturer. From September 11, 2019, to June 15, 2021, he served as the Freshman Academic Program Coordinator, and from June 30, 2021, to August 28, 2023, he held the position of Vice Dean. In June 2023, he briefly served as the Acting Dean. During his late 20s, he pursued a PhD in Computer Engineering, and he is currently a PhD candidate at Pusan National University, Republic of Korea, since September 2023.
Throughout his career, He has learned the importance of teamwork in leadership. He is outgoing, dedicated, and open-minded, easily connecting with people and adapting to change. He believes in continuously developing professional skills and learning new things.
He is honored to be part of the Earth Charter Young Leaders (ECYL) community, where he contributes to a global movement focused on sustainability and ethical leadership. His passion for nature and the belief that preserving ecosystems is essential for the well-being of future generations have shaped his journey.
Having completed courses in Leadership, Sustainability, and Ethics, He has gained valuable insights into how he can drive meaningful change through education and responsible action. Education, in particular, holds a special place in his heart as a tool for equipping individuals with the knowledge and values necessary to promote sustainability. This aligns with the Earth Charter’s mission to foster a just, sustainable, and peaceful world through education.
He is excited to collaborate with fellow young leaders who share his passion for making a difference and looks forward to working together to ensure a thriving planet for future generations.
