Restore the Rule of Law in Pakistan

The following statement on Pakistan has been endorsed by those members of the Earth Charter International Council and by those ECI Advisors and staff members listed below.

 

The imposition of emergency rule in Pakistan by the government and the measures being taken to enforce emergency rule violate international human rights law and the ethical principles of the Earth Charter (see especially Principles 3, 13 and 16). Therefore, we join the call, widely supported throughout the world, for:

"In the Circle of Creation": A glance into the culture of the American native people and a convention to spread the educational principles of Earth Charter – Italy

During the Italian week for the celebration of the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development, Cogeme Onlus Foundation, Earth Charter Affiliate in Italy, is organizing an international event to be held on November 10th, in Castegnato, Brescia titled “In the circle of creation. Education and wisdom of native people”, a space to know more about the American native people and for the disemination of the Earth Charter as an educational tool.

Blind People Can Be Enlighted by the Earth Charter

Following the principles of inclusion and non-discrimination and in celebration of International Environmental Day, Instituto Vivo /in Brazil produced the Earth Charter in Braille as well as an Earth Charter audio book for visually impaired people. This is a great contribution to facilitate the access to this material by this public and for the promotion of social inclusion.

The policy relevance of the Earth Charter for Europe

On occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome and the 15th anniversary of the Treaty of Maastricht in May 2007, Maastricht University took the opportunity to stage its 3rd Forum Maastricht conference on European topics in cooperation with Socires, a Dutch policy think-tank.
