Felipe Gómez Gallo is an Environmental and Civil Engineer with complementary studies in Biodiversity and Environmental Sciences. His expertise includes the SDGs, engineering education and climate change adaptation. He holds the position of Meaningful Youth Engagement Specialist at the Student Platform for Engineering Education Development (SPEED). He is an active member of youth groups on environmental issues such as YOUNGO, UNEP MGCY, SCP and SDG4 Youth & Student Network, among others. His climate and environmental activism began when he became aware of the effects of the triple planetary crisis in his hometown, and he used his master’s thesis to research adaptation strategies. Finally, he co-founded the Colombian Platform for Children and Youth as a civil society initiative to articulate and strengthen processes for the effective advocacy of Colombian children and young people on social, economic, political and environmental issues at the national and international level. He is now excited to begin his journey as an Earth Charter Young Leader.
